When is the best time to climb Mt Kilimanjaro?
It is possible to climb Mt Kilimanjaro all year round. However, the months outside the rainy season are more desirable.
The best months are from December to March and July to October.
The finest weather is usually at the beginning of the year from January to March, which are typically the warmest and
driest months of the year.
Is Mt Kilimanjaro a technical climb?
No, the trek up Mt Kilimanjaro is not technical and you do not require mountaineering equipment or experience
to reach the summit. In fact, anyone in good physical condition can reach the top of Mt Kilimanjaro.
Does the price include park fees?
Yes, all Tanzania national park (TANAPA) fees for Kilimanjaro National Park are included in the trekking price.
Are children allowed to climb Mt Kilimanjaro?
The minimum age limit set by Kilimanjaro National Park for children to trek to the summit of Mt Kilimanjaro is 10 year old.
How long does it take to reach the summit of Mt Kilimanjaro?
This depends on the route chosen, but most trekkers take 4-6 days to reach the summit.
What equipment do I need to pack?
What is the weight limit for luggage on the climb?
Each porter can carry up to 20kg of luggage.
What kind of food can we expect on the trip?
Do you cater for people with special dietary requirements?
Certainly, we can cater for vegetarian, gluten free or other special dietary requirements advised at the time of booking.
How many climbers will I be trekking with on Mt Kilimanjaro?
Since we operate private guided climbs, you will not be trekking with any strangers.
Where and how often are your guides trained?
Before obtaining their licence, all guides need to attend training provided by The College of African Wildlife Management{MWEKA}
on theory and practical components, as well as first aid. They will need to pass an exam before they can get their licence.
We would never consider anyone who is not certified and we always interview potential candidates before we select them.
How many guides will we have?
You will have one lead guide and one assistant guide for 2-3 climbers.
Can we rent a portable toilet for our climb?
Yes, portable toilets are available for rental at $150/trip for up to 4 climbers.
How many porters will accompany us?
You will have 3-4 porters per person for your group. This depends on your group size and the weight of your luggage.
What about safety on the mountain?
All the leading guides are trained and certified in the following areas:
Altitude sickness, recognising symptoms in the early stages and providing advice, or to take something against it.
Then they will carry emergency oxygen, first aid kit and also we check the clients and crew daily at camp. As they are equipped
with mobile phone services, each ranger post also has radio communications.
What is the recommended weight for the day pack?
We would recommend that you carry no more than 10kg. The average is 7kg and you only need to carry the essential 3 litres
of water.
